Electronics Basics Flashcards
(12 cards)
State the ohm’s law
The voltage v across the resistor is directly proportional to the current I flowing through the resistor
V = iR
Conductance
The ability of an element to conduct electricity.
G = 1/R = i/V
Parallel Resistors - Equivalent Resistance
Is equal to the product of their resistance divided by their sum. Or
1/R,eq = 1/R1+1/R2+ 1/Rn
Superposition
States that the voltage across an element in a linear circuit is the algebraic sum of the voltages across that element due to each independent source acting alone.
Independent voltage source : Short circuit
Independent current source:
Open circuit
Source Transformation
The process of replacing a voltage source Vs in series with a resistor R by a current source Is in parallel with a resistor R or vice versa
Vs = Is*R
Capacitor
W = 0.5×C×v^2
C = capacitance
W = energy stored
Under DC conditions acts as a open circuit
Parallel Capacitors
Ceq = C1+ C2+ Cn
Series Capacitors
1/Ceq = 1/C1 + 1/C2 + 1/Cn
Or
Ceq = C1 C2/(C1+C2)
Inductor
Under DC conditions acts as an open circuit
W= 0.5×L×i^2
i= current
Series Inductors
Leq= L1+ L2 + Ln
Parallel Inductors
1/Leq= (1/L1)+ (1/L2)+(1/Ln)
Or
Leq=L1L2/(L1+L2)
