What are isotopes?

A

They are different forms of the same element but have different amounts of neutrons and therefore a different mass number.

Q

Why is Relative Atomic Mass used instead of mass number?

A

An element can exist in many different isotopes of different mass numbers, so RAM is used to describe the element in general or as a whole.
