Embriologic Regions Of The Brain Flashcards
Identify the components and location of the regions (10 cards)
Metencephalon
Pons and cerebellum
Diencephalon
Thalamus and Hypothalamus
Mesencephalon
The most rostral part of the brainstem. It sits above the pons joint to the thalamus. It includes the cerebral peduncles.
Middle Brain.
Rhombencephalon
Medulla, Pons and cerebellum.
Hindbrain.
Myelencephalon
The most posterior region of the embryonic hindbrain. From where the medulla oblongata develops.
Afterbrain
Telencephalon
Cerebral cortex + subcortical regions like hippocampus and basal ganglia.
Cerebrum
Prosencephalon
The rostral most part of the embryonic brain. It differentiates into the diencephalon and the telencephalon.
Forebrain.
Middle Brain
Mesencephalon
Forebrain
Telencephalon and diencephalon
Procencephalon
Hindbrain
Rhombencephalon
