What is the James-Lange Theory?
Stimulus → physiological arousal → emotion

Intense, unpleasant, mild, pleasant

What is the difference between extrinsic and intrinsic motivation?
Intrinsic motivation → desire to engage in activity for its own sake
Extrinsic motivation → desire to engage in an activity to achieve an external consequence (reward)
What is the difference between conscious and unconscious motivation?
Conscious motivation → having the desire to engage in an activity and being aware of the desire
Unconscious motivation → having a desire to engage in an activity but being consciously unaware of the desire
What is a good psychological reason to avoid pornographic material?
It causes your mind to create sexual scripts which are behaviors you adopt regarding sexual relations, but most people can’t fulfill those needs.
What is homeostasis?
The body’s tendency to maintain a biologically balanced condition
Explain the different elements of attribution theory.
Locus of control → an individual’s sense of where his or her life influence originates
internally or externally
Stability/unstability → how changeable or unchangeable a situation is
Will the event stay the same or not?
Global/specific → how extensive is the impact of the event
Does it impact one small part of your life or all of it?
What are the differences between optimists and pessimists?
Optimists → unstable and specific
Pessimists → stable and global
