Nausea/Vomit?: sniff alc pad 20-60sec

Alcohol Intoxication
Have they drank?: slurred speech, agitation, altered, n/v
Allergic Reaction/ Anaphylaxis
If 2 or more body systems = EPI pen,
Scrape stinger out
Alt Ment Stat
Suspected OD?: Naloxone/Narcan
Are they diabetic?
BGL?: hypo/hyperglycemia
Taken drugs/alc?
Stroke? Tumor? Seizure? Infection? Poison? Acidosis/Alkalosis?
Psychiatric/Behavioral
Remove pt from stressor if possible; suicidal/homicidal? violent? delulu? bipolar/anxiety/depression/schizo?
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
> 5% CO (non-smoker), >10% (smoker) *SPO2 reading will be inaccurate
Cyanide Posioning
exposure? SPO2 not reliable
Hyperglycemia
UCP
Hypoglycemia
Oral Glucose, Eating a PB&J: are they diabetic? WHY are they hypoglycemic; is their pump messed up? they on oral medications? - strong encouragement of transport-
Hyperthermia
heat stroke? = ICE BATH 5min immediate, cool til temp = 101 or ment stat improve,
if altered = BGL. cool packs to armpit/nec/groin if no ice bath
rectal temp if possible, encourage fluids
Hypotension (non-trauma)
supine or Trendelenburg unless TBI then semi-fowler
Hypothermia
rectal temp; 89.6-95 = mild, 82.4-89.6 = moderate, <82.4 = severe:
Begin warming; remove wet clothes, blanket wrap, heat packs, shock once only if severe and goes into CA with shock advised
Nausea/Vomit
pt sniff alc pad 20-60 sec
OD
Naloxone if opiate OD
Respiratory Distress
lung sounds:
Asthma/COPD = wheezing/rales,
CHF/pulm edema = rales/rhonchi,
croup = stridor
seizure (pedi)
acetaminophen (Tylenol) and cool passively
Stroke
Cincinnati stroke scale: facial droop, Arm drift, speech abn, obtain a BGL, when is last known well, transport to STROKE hosp., elevate head 20-30 degrees
