Q

How do u factorise something?

A

6x + 7x (factorise) x(6+7)
what ever is on the outside of the brackets is multiplied by whatever is on the inside so when you factorise your reversing this process so get what the original expression was.

Q

How to expand brackets

A

x(5 + 3) (expanding brackets) 5x + 3x
expanding brackets is the opposite of factorising, you will have to multiply what is on the outside to what is on the indie then discard the brackets to get your answer

Q

How do you work out the sum of the interior angles of a polygon?

A

Find out the number of triangles it has and because a triangle is 180 degrees do 180 degrees multiplied by the number of triangles there are

The formula for this is (n-2) x 180

For example: Polygon = 3 triangles you will do 180 multiplied by 3 which is 540
so your answer would be that 540 degrees is the sum of the interior angles

Q

How do you work out the sum of the exterior angles of a polygon?

A

To work out the sum of the exterior angle you must do 360 divided by the number of sides

For example: polygon = 4 sides you will do 360 divided by 4 which is 90
so the sum of the exterior angles is 90 degrees

Q

How do you work out the surface area of cuboids?

A

To work out the surface area of a cuboid you need to know a cuboid has 6 sides, work out the area of all 6 sides then add them together which will give the surface area of the cuboid.

Q

How do you add fractions?

A

To add fractions they must have the same denominator

For example: 2/7 + 4/14 cannot be added until they have the same denominator so they good either be 2/7 + 2/7 or 4/14 + 4/14

Q

How do you multiply fraction?

A

To multiply fraction you must use KFC ( Keep Flip Change )

For example: 4/7 x 6, so you keep 4/7 flip 6 which is now 1/6 and then multiply them so 4/7 x 1/6 = 4/42, another example is 4/7 x 1/6 which is 4/7 x 6/1 so it become 24/7 which is 3 3/7

Q

How do you divide fractions?

A

To divide a fraction is to make it so that there is more of it like a pizza the more you slice it the more there is but the smaller the pieces

For example: 4/7 ÷ 6 is 4/7 x 6/1 which you then multiply them so it is 4/7 x 6/1 which is 24/7 which is bigger than before, it can so be turned into a mixed fraction, 3 3/7
