Energy Flashcards
(21 cards)
Does kinetic energy remain the same if an object slows down or speeds up?
Yes the level of kinetic energy remains the same.
How fast can electric cars go?
60-100MPH
What energy does a plane use?
Chemical energy
What energy does a car use?
Chemical energy
What energy does running use?
Potential kinetic energy
How do we get energy?
Fossil fuels,nuclear and renewable sources
What is electrical energy
Energy is the ability to do work, where work is done and when a force moves an object. We need and we use energy everyday, and energy is available in all different forms.electrical energy is energy that’s stored in.
What is kinetic energy?
Kinetic energy is the scientific term for the energy of movement.
What is energy efficiency?
Energy efficiency is a measure of how much energy is being transformed into the desired energy type.
What type of energy does a trampoline use?
Potential kinetic energy
What is a switch and what does it do?
A switch opens and closes the circuit. It breaks the conductive path when switched off and makes an electric circuit when switched on.
What are wires usually made of?
Copper wire surrounded by a plastic coating
What is renewable energy?
A renewable energy source is one that can be replenished. Examples include hydropower from turbines in a dam, wind power from windmills, and solar power from the sun.
What is nonrenewable energy?
Nonrenewable energy uses up resources that we cannot recreate.some examples of this are gas to run our car and coal burned in power plants. Once they are used, they are gone forever.
What is heat energy?
Heat energy(also known as thermal energy)is made from friction such as rubbing your hands together.it is can also be generated from chemical reactions
What is a power source?
A battery or a power point in the wall(wall socket). It is the source of electrical potential energy
What is light energy?
Light energy is energy.it comes from sources such as light globes, the sun and fires.
What is involved in nuclear energy?
Nuclear energy involves the splitting and joining of atoms
What is potential energy?
Elastic potential energy is when an object has stored energy that can be released to create movement
What are two major forms of energy?
Kinetic energy and potential energy
If an object is still, does it have kinetic or potential?
Potential since the object has to be moving for it to have kinetic energy
