Energy2 Flashcards
(10 cards)
Energy transfer
When energy move from one place to another
Pathway
Ex: conducting wires that connect the two terminals of the battery
Open and closed circuits
Open Circuit : an open circuit is a circuit in which the path is incomplete which means there is no flow of current. Closed Circuit: A closed Circuit is a circuit in which the path is complete and there is a flow of current in the entire path.
Switch
A switch is an electrical component that is used to turn on and turn off any equipment like a television, washing machine, lights, fans, etc.
Electric current
Electric current is the flow of electric charge from one place to another in a circuit
Electric circuit model
an electric circuit has to have a power source, wires for the electricity to flow through, and a device such as a lamp or a motor that uses the electric current
insulators
substances that do not allow electric charge to pass through, Ex: glass, air, cotton, plastic, rubber and wood.
Conductors
substances that an electric charge can pass through without difficulty. Ex: power lines, fences for livestock, battery jumper cables, powering electronic devices, also copper, aluminum, iron, steel, gold and silver,
source
such as a battery
user
such as a light bulb or other devices that use energy
