Q

State the sequence of events that occur when you pull a start switch with the AUTOSTART Switch ON.

A

Pulling start switch out arms the start valve and opens the engine bleed air valve. Moving fuel control switch to RUN initiates start; EEC opens start valve- start light illuminates. Predetermined N2 EEC opens fuel metering valve and energies the selected igniter (one on ground/ two in air). Starter cutout at 50% N2

Q

State the sequence of events that occur when you pull a start switch with the AUTOSTART Switch OFF.

A

Pulling the starter switch out opens the start and engine bleed air valves, start light illuminates. When N2 reaches fuel on indicactor the fuel control switch is moved to RUN- the spar, fuel metering and engine fuel valves open and selected ignitor energizes. Started cutout occurs at 50% N2.

Q

What is the function of the AUTO Ignition Selector in the SINGLE position?

A

EEC alternates igniter 1 or 2 on each ground start.
Selected igniters operate during start with N2<50%, Trailing edge flaps out of up.
NAI on.
Engine flameout.

Q

What is the function of Standby (STBY) IGNITION selector in NORM?

A

AC power system supplies power to selected igniters. Standby power system supplied power continuously to all igniters if AC power system not powered.

Q

Describe the engine start sequence with the AUTOSTART Switch is ON

A

Pulling start switch out arms the start valve and opens the engine bleed air valve. Moving fuel control switch to RUN initiates start; EEC opens start valve- start light illuminates. 16
Q

How does the EEC protect against an impending hot start, hung start, or no EGT rise?

A

If the EEC detects no EGT rise it cuts off fuel and ignition. Engine motors for 30 seconds. EEC tries again, both ignitors. EEC makes three attempts before aborting start sequence. If theres an EGT rise but EEC detects impending hot/hung start before starter cutout is cuts off the fuel, adjusts the fuel schedule, then reapplies fuel. Makes three attempts before aborting autostart sequence. In all scenarios engine motors for 30 seconds before start and bleed valve close.

17
Q

At what EGT limit does the EEC abort an inflight start through the autostart system?

A

Take off limit.

18
Q

How is the engine cooled?

A

Oil system.

19
Q

How is the engine thrust reverser actuated?

A

Pneumatically.

20
Q

What protects the thrust reversers from deploying inadvertently in flight?

A

Interlock to prevent simultaneous movement of Forward and reverse levers.

21
Q

What is broadband vibration in the airborne vibration monitoring system, and how is it displayed?

A

Average vibration detected. BB.
