16
Q

Roll ups

A

Fold hose in half so nozzle tip eve w/ female coup.
Midpoint fold to coupling
Fold up the coupling over midpoint
Lift couplings then fold
Male coupling on right
A fold- painted red, midpoint beneath couplings

17
Q

Horseshoe

A

Comprised of 1 length of hose 4ft long

Midpoint of horseshoe by grabbing middle ring

18
Q

Hose bed

A

Load hose from left to right w/ coupling extended beyond hosebed
Straight back then forwards towards right
When finished fold hose @ rear right, bring forward diagonally to front left

19
Q

Hose packing

A

1 bed of 3 1/2” hose
1 bed of 2 1/2 hose
2 beds w/ lead lengths of 1 3/4 hose coupled to 2 1/2 hose to finish load

No more than 6 lengths of 1 3/4 hose shall be used as lead length

20
Q

Hose requirments

A

20 lengths of 1 3/4
1 length of 2” poly w/ 2” nozzle and 1” mst
3 lengths of 2 1/2 poly in roll up w/ 2 1/2 nozzle and 1 1/8 mst
3 lengths of 2 1/2 poly (5 FFs carry 4)
30 lengths of 2 1/2” and 10 3 1/2 hose

21
Q

Apparatus hose requirments

A

1 length of 2” poly roll up w/ 2” nozzle
3 lengths of 2 1/2” poly toll up , 1 length with 2 1/2” nozzle
5 FFs 1 additional length of 2 1/2 roll up
4 lengths of 1 3/4 hose rolled/roll up 1 length w/ 1 1/34 nozzle

22
Q

Hose strap

A

Secure hoseline that is stretched vertically, used for well-hole, fire escaped & rope stretch
Rope hose hook- one end metal hook other loop in rope
Nylon carabiner- one end carabiner other loop in nylon strap, # of smaller loops on strap not used
Looped end of hose strap secured by girth hitch
Ideal location below coupling

23
Q

Spanner wrench

A

Tighten/loosen couplings

Flip open spanner- carried in bunker coat pocket

Straight spanner- carried on apparatus

24
Q

Digital inline gauge

A

Monitors pressure & flow from stand pipe

Does not regulate water flow

25
Adapters
``` Connection bet. Fdny threads & nst/npt Male fdny coup. & female nst/npt Female fdny coup & male nst/npt Double male - male fdny & male nst/npt Double female-female fdny & female nst/npt Npt are longer/deeper than fdny or nst ```
26
Hydrant connection
Double female w/ diff. Size couplings | 4 1/2 threads for hydrant 3” for 3 1/2 hose
27
Double male/female
Double male- allows two female couplings of same size to be connected Double female- allows two male couplings of same size to be connected
28
Reducer/increaser
Reducer- larger male coupling connect to smaller female, male orifice is smaller than female Used for water flow from larger to smaller hose. Increaser- smaller male coupling to larger female, male orifice is larger than female Used for water flow from smaller to larger hose
