Q

Eng 12
When an engine officer calls for more pressure and the ECC responds that sufficient pressure is being supplied but there is a reduction in flow on the flow meter, it is an indication of what?

A

Kinks

**Do not correct kinks by adding more pressure!

Q

When the Engine Officer reports that there is little or no water and the ECC sees an adequate pressure reading, increased flow on the flow meter, and the pumps RPMs are increasing automatically it is an indication of what?

A

A Burst length .

** once a burst length is confirmed by any member an urgent message shall be transmitted.***

Q

ENG 12

How is line pressure determined?

A

Size + number of lengths + nozzle pressure+ elevation

17
Q

Eng 12. If adding an extra length of 1 3/4, how do we do it?

A

Remove tip off of original nozzle and add extra length by connecting the female button the shut off.

18
Q

Eng 12. For a fire in non - fireproof md without a well- hole, how can we get more hose from the existing line?

A

Sufficient hose may be found by raising the already charged hose line over the newel post onto the railing. ( Snake Stretch)

19
Q

Eng 12. How do we add an extra length of 2 1/2 onto the front of a stretch?

A

Bring a length of 2 1/2 with the nozzle attached to the front of the line and remove the tip from the original nozzle. Attach a 11/2 x 2 1/2 increaser and attach new length.

  • ***There will be a slight reduction in water flow ( GPM ) due to the friction loss and additional fittings and hose.
  • * The 11/2 x2 1/2 increaser shall be carried in the standpipe kit connected to the 2 1/2 nozzle for easy access.**
