Asbury goes home and becomes ill, he thinks he is dying and tells his mother he needs to speak to a priest. The priest tells him that he is a bad person and he will not feel better until he changes his ways. doctors tells him that he will be fine

Man and woman waiting for a train discussing to either keep or abort a newly conceived child. done so very secretly

A boy who plays o the streets of Dublin falls in love with a girl who is older than him. His lust leads him to buy her a gift from the bazaar. His uncle fails to full fill his promise to come home early and give him money for the bazaar, so the narrator (boy) cannot full fill his promise to the girl. He is left outside the bazaar, sad and alone.
The Birth Mark: Nathaniel Hawthorne
Aylmer, a scientist, marries a beautiful woman who has a birthmark on her face. To Aylmer, this freckle is a sign of human imperfection, and to him is a sign of depleting life. He sways his wife to allow him to experiment to get rid of the birthmark. In doing so he removes the birthmark to make his wife perfect, however, he kills his wife as a result of the experiments

Family has a girl come to stay with them (girl is what we would consider an EXTREME pentecostal) and her and the daughter have a bird who flies into the house (signifies the death of her dad which is to come, and how the daughter feels trapped) later on the daughters dad dies who lived in the house and she goes kinda crazy (out of grief) and slightly attacks the girl.
The Yellow Wall Paper: Charlotte Gillman
Women brought to a house by her husband, isn’t allowed to leave and starts going crazy because of this yellow wallpaper. She sees a woman in the wallpaper (which represents herself) trying to get out, and at the end of the story, she has a psychotic break where she claws all the wallpaper off and her husband finds her.

Merchant of Heaven: Margaret Laurence
Brother Lemon, an evangelical preacher from America, has come to Africa to collect souls, estimating that within six months he will have 6,000. What Brother Lemon is far less interested in are the bodies those souls inhabit. His vision of Africa is informed by his very American and very evangelical prejudices and expectations. His own soul becomes tortured by the reality that Africa is not just “Africa” but Africa.

The prophet’s hair: Salman Rushdie
“The Prophet’s Hair” is based on story of the theft of a relic containing a hair of the Prophet Muhammad. The tale is a fantastic account of the miraculous but disastrous events befalling all those who come into contact with it. The stolen relic is found by a moneylender, Hashim.
Instead of returning it to the mosque from which it was taken, he keeps it. Under its influence, this previously secular Muslim becomes orthodox to the point of extremism and hurt his family by adopting it.
His son, Atta, tries to take the hair back to Mosque, but at the last minute he finds out that the hair is no longer with him because there is a hole in his pocket (2849 L6). Then Huma comes up with another plan, and decides that it will have to be stolen by hiring a thief, ‘Sheikh Sín’, who takes the hair amid a scene of carnage. However, she ends up with a disaster.
At the end of story, Hashim accidentally kills his own daughter, but he does not realize what he has done until he turns the light on. Finally, the thief is hunted and shot by the police, but his four crippled sons and blind wife have miraculously been cured by their contact with the relic.
Rushdie describes Hashim’s family as an insecure and frightened family. The story is concerned with an iconic object, the hair, and its relocation from a holy place, the shrine, to the profane space of the outside world, then to a secret hiding place in the moneylender’s locked study, and finally back to the shrine again.

A girl goes to her first ball. this fat man comes up to her and he ruins her childhood by telling her all the terrible things about life. he doesn’t have a place in society and he represents death and the death of her innocence. the plot is about her finding out about all these different horrible things that the man had told her.

A good man is hard to find
grandma warned the family about a serial killer (misfit) the whole family goes anyways. get in a car crash. The family is killed off one by one by the serial killer. Grandma is the only one left and she tries to reason with the killer. Ends up dying in the shape of a child
