What is Characterization?
the creation or construction of a fictional character.
What is setting?
the place or type of surroundings where something is positioned or where an event takes place.
What is tone?
the general character or attitude of a place, piece of writing, situation, etc.
What is mood?
the vibe of a story/the vibe it gives off
What is theme?
the subject of a talk, a piece of writing, a person’s thoughts, or an exhibition; a topic.
What is plot?
the main events of a play, novel, movie, or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence.
What are the five types of plot?
exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.
What are the types of conflict?
Man v self, man v man, man v nature, man v society.
What is irony?
the expression of one’s meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
What is syntax?
the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in a language.
What is allusion?
an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference.
What is anology?
a comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification.
What is aphorism?
a pithy observation that contains a general truth, such as, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

a response to the counterclaim which shows you why it is wrong
When should you use italization?
Articles, names of work, trains/ships,
When should you use quotation marks?
songs, * essays, * poems, * short stories, * one-act plays, * chapters within books, * episodes of television shows, * articles in newspapers, magazines, or journals.
When should you use underline?
titles of books and films, and names of ships.
What is allegory?
a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.
What are idioms?
think about it as something that everyone uses, like “hit the hay” nobody actually hits the hay but its widely used and its meaning is eomthing else

a group of words containing a participle, modifier, and pronoun or noun phrases.
