Adam – He was the first man. Because of his sin, we inherited a sinful nature, are under a curse, and are in need of reconciliation with God.
Moses – He was the chosen deliverer of the Hebrews out of bondage in Egypt. To him was given the Law on Mt. Sinai for the people to obey.
Deborah – She was a righteous judge during the period of the judges. She gave wise counsel and led certain military victories with Barak in Israel’s period before kingship.
Ruth – She was a woman of great loyalty and faithfulness from Moab. She married Boaz and was the great grandmother of David, in the royal lineage of Christ.
Joshua – He was the leader of the conquest following Moses and the Exodus. He was faithful in his charge to drive out the Canaanites from the land promised to Israel.

Gideon – He was a judge who struggled with faith and obedience, but did lead some important military victories in Israel, especially against the Midianites.
David – He was the chosen King after Saul. To him God made a covenant that his royal line would always reign in Israel (Judah). He is a precursor to the true king, Jesus Christ.
Ezekiel – He was a prophet to Israel following the exile. He preached a message of restoration and hope following such great judgment.
Jonah – He was a reluctant prophet sent to Ninevah. He was cast off a boat, swallowed by a great fish, and vomited onto dry land as God’s chosen preacher to the Gentiles, emphasizing God’s great mercy to other nations.
Malachi – He was the last of the minor prophets. He emphasized bountiful grace and benevolence for those who humble themselves and trust God.
