Scrooge is miserable and selfish he begrudges his employees time off. However Fezziwig is jolly lets his workers have a day off on Christmas day and he throws a party.

Mr. Birling is the head of the Birling household. He has made himself very wealthy by being a ‘hard-headed’ business man he is also presented as selfish and arrogant towards Eva smith and Inspector Goole.
