What is a thermal energy store?
Everything that has energy in it’s thermal energy store. The hotter it is- the higher its temperature, and the more energy is in it’s thermal energy store.
What is gravitational potential energy store?
Anything in a gravitational field (i.e. anything that can fall) has an energy in its potential energy store-the higher it goes the more it has.
What is magnetic energy store?
Two. Magnets that attract or repel each other have energy in them magnetic energy stores.
What is Kinetic (movement) energy store
Anything that moves has energy, its kinetic energy store
What is a chemical energy store?
Anything with energy with which can be released by chemical reactions, things like food, fuels and batteries
What is electrostatic energy store?
Two electric charges the tractor repellent have energy in the electrostatic energy store.

What is elastic potential energy store?
Anything stretched has energy in its elastic energy, store things like rubber, band, springs, knickers

Energy can be transferred between stores for example…
When you burn fuel energy is transferred from the fuel store of a chemical energy to the thermal energy store of the surroundings.
What are the four ways of transferring energy?
Mechanically electrically by heating, and by light and sound.
What does it mean by transferring energy mechanically?
When a force makes something move, for example, if an object is pushed, pulled, stretched or squashed
What does it mean by transferring energy electrically?
When electric charges move around an electric circuit due to a potential difference?
What does it mean by transferring energy by heating?
When energy is transferred from hotter objects to colder objects
What does it mean by energy being transferred by light and sound
When light sound waves carry energy from one place to another
What happens in the boilers of a fossil fuels powerstation?
Fossil fuels are burned to release energy that heats water,turning the water into steam
