(9 cards)
what is a Equinox
An equinox is a day of the year when the day and night are almost exactly the same length, happening twice a year, around March 21st (spring equinox) and September 22nd (autumn equinox), because the Earth’s tilt is neither pointing towards nor away from the sun,
What is a Summer Solstice
A “summer solstice” means the longest day of the year, happening when the Earth’s tilt is most directly towards the sun, resulting in the most hours of sunlight on that day; essentially marking the official start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, usually occurring around June 21s
What is a winter Solstice
The winter solstice marks the exact moment when half of Earth is tilted the farthest away from the sun. It usually happens on December 21 or 22
