ERPs Flashcards
(2 cards)
1
Q
strength: high temporal resolution
A
especially when compared to an FMRI, ERPs can identify brain activity every millisecond so researchers can see brain activity in real time, HOWEVER HAVE POOR SPATIAL RESOLUTION when compared to FMRI as can only detect activity in general brain areas rather than specific location
2
Q
weakness: hard to obtain meaningful data
A
can be affected by external factors such as background noise, can take many trials to obtain meaningful data, hard to control these other factors, limits validity of ERPS as a means of studying brain for range of brain processes
