Q

How would the ELT trigger when in the “Armed” position?

A

It would trigger via a G-switch.

When a certain G-force is applied to the airplane (hence to the ELT), it will start emitting.

The force required to trigger the inertial activation is equal to 5Gs (+2, -0) along the longitudinal axis of the plane.

16
Q

How do you test your ELT?

A

By pressing the Test/reset switch.

It it works normally, the LED will emit a long red flash.

If it doesn’t work properly, the LED will emit a series of short red flashes.

17
Q

What will happen once the ELT is activated?

A
  1. It will emit a digital message every 50 seconds for 24 hours on 406 MHz (military)
  2. It will emit a continuous radio transmission for at least 100 hours or until the battery dies on 121.5 MHz during the 50 seconds between each digital message.
18
Q

What type of fire extinguisher is fitted on the PC12?

A

Halon extinguisher

19
Q

On which types of fire can you use a halon extinguisher?

A

All types (A, B, C, D and E) except F (Deep fat fryers).

20
Q

What are the different categories of fire?

A

A = Combustible materials (paper, wood, etc…)

B = Flammable liquids (fuel, oil, etc…)

C = Flammable gases (butane, methane, etc…)

D = Flammable metals (lithium, potassium)

E = Electrical

F = Fat

21
Q

How long will a PBE provide O2 for?

A

At least 15 min

22
Q

When do you need to have life jackets on borad?

A

When flying over water further than 50 NM from shore.

23
Q

When should the occupants of the plane inflate their life jackets in case of ditching?

A

Adults should inflate their life jackets outside the plane.

Infants (15 kg or less) should inflate their life jackets INSIDE the plane.

24
Q

In AUTO mode, when will the cabin O2 masks deploy?

A

When cabin altitude reaches 13500 ft +/- 500 ft.
