Definition of Perspectives
How individuals view and interpret situations
What shapes perspectives?
Personal values, assumptions, beliefs and collective norms of society, education, culture, background, religion, economic conditions
Significance of Perspectives?
Differing perspectives must be understood to effectively address complex env challenges + enables inclusive discussions
Difference between Perspectives and Arguments?
Perspectives are viewpoints influenced by external factors. Arguments are a series of logical statements.
Definition of Values?
Principles that influence behaviour, shape perspectives and guide decision making. Impacting how individuals approach env issues
Why is their variation in values?
Values vary between individuals and culture; some prioritise economic growth + while emphasising env preservation. Differences lead to diverse approaches (ie; resource management)
What is Env Management?
Processes that minimise humanity’s impact on its surroundings. Main objective is to create and maintain conditions so society and nature can coexist.
What are the 3 specific Values?
Instrumental, relational and instrinsic values
