Deck Department’s underway watch responsibilities consist 6 positions, what are they?
⁃ BMOW- The Boatswains Mate of the Watch is overall in charge of the Bridge watch standers. He is also responsible for piping ALL calls over the 1MC.
⁃ Helmsman- The helmsman is responsible for steering the ship. ⁃ Lee Helmsman- The lee helmsman is in charge of controlling the ships speed. ⁃ Lookout- The lookouts are responsible for reporting all surface and air contacts. ⁃ Aft Boy Watch- Responsible for reporting man overboard and are equipped with life rings and DMLs to assist them. ⁃ Aft Steering Helmsman- The aft steering helmsman is responsible for driving the ship in case of a loss of steering on the bridge.
