3 ways to avoid bad consequences of SSR are:

  1. Research questions: be careful with the way you phrase questions as it may influence the way in which findings are interpreted.
  2. Dealing with participants: informed consent, confidentiality and psych harm are important.
  3. The way the findings are used: consider in advance how research findings may be used as it may impact on what data to collect. Some findings on research may be giving scientific credence to existing PREJUDICES.
