Never perform or allow acts that will harm the patient
Non-maleficence (do no harm)
Entails action to do good, promoting goodness, kindness, and charity
Beneficence-“Doing good”
Involves rights or claims that must be balanced or weighed against each other, moral rightness. Doing what is right or fair concerning patient care
Justice “Be fair”
Allows patient to choose a course of action based on a plan that they have chosen.
Autonomy “principle of respect”
Truthful to patients, employers, colleagues, to tell the truth and not lie, sometimes a duty to an employer and following a code of ethics is in conflict
Veracity “Do not lie”
Faithful to a patient’s reasonable expectation, professionalism
