A complex system that includes knowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, moral customs, and habits adopted by people.
What is co-culture?
Specialized or unique ways of life within society that distinguish groups.
What does cultural competence refer to?
Ability to provide care to patients with diverse values, beliefs, and behaviors.
What is ethnocentrism?
The view that one’s own group or groups’ way of life is superior to others.
Define stereotyping.
The process by which people use social categories in acquiring, processing, and recalling information about others.
What does the biomedical approach neglect?
Psychological factors that have a major role in explaining disease.
What is the narrative communicative approach?
It allows the patient to discuss their perceptions, concerns, and beliefs regarding their health status.
