EURKARYOTIC CELLS Flashcards
(22 cards)
WHAT DO EURKARYOTIC CELLS HAVE
- Animal cells or Plant cells
- have nucleus and bound organelles
PLANT CELLS (structures plant only)
1.Chloroplasts
2.Vacuole
3.Cell wall
4.Tonoplast membrane
5.Amyloplasts
6.Middle lamella
7.Plasmodesmata and Pits
CHLOROPLASTS
where photosynthesis happens
VACUOLE
stores water and other substances
CELL WALL
protection and support
TONOPLAST MEMBRANE
controls movement of molecules in and out vacuole
AMYLOPLASTS
to store starch
MIDDLE LAMELLA
sticks cells together
PLASMODESMATA AND PITS
allows communicaton between one cell and another
PLASMA MEMBRANE
- protects the cell from its surroundings
CYTOPLASM
liquid that fills the cell, contains many dissolved substances.
NUCLEUS
- surrounded by double membrane
- where DNA is
- produces ribosomes
RIBOSOMES
makes proteins
ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM
contain flatterned sacs with membrane covered in ribosomes
SMOOTH ENDOPLASMIC PATICULUM
- where lipids are made
VESICLES
small membrane bound sacs that store and transport substances
GOLGI APPARATUS
modifies proteins and packages them in vesicles for transport.
LYSOMES
destroys old organelles and pathogens
CENTRIOLES
two hollow tubes next to each other they make the spindle in cell division
MITOCHRONDRIA
- where respiration happens
- contains Ribosomes and DNA
SIMILARITIES OF PLANT AND ANIMAL
- Both eukaryotic
- have cell membrane
- both have nucleus
DIFFERENCES
- plants have cell walls
- plants have extra organelles.
- plant cells have rectangular shape
- animal cells are round and irregular
