When is the castle closed?
The castle is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day
What is Ceilidh at the castle?
Ceilidh (Kay-lee) at the Castle is an event at the castle taking place on Saturday 20th May involving performing arts where guests are encouraged to do traditional dances. This takes place in the courtyard outside the castle and is £8 for adults and £5 for children in the afternoon (morning sessions are free)
What is Medieval Mystery?
Mediaeval Mystery, a hunt involving code-breaking and puzzle-solving, takes place on selected dates between 27th May and 3rd June and takes place at times of 10.30am and 12.30pm. It is recommended for children aged between 5 and 10 and costs £12 per child to take part
What theatrical performances are on at the castle and when?
Shakespeare plays are on over the summer, each show is on in the evening 7.30 start time (£18 per adult, £16 per concession)
What is the Knight School?
The Knight School takes place from 22nd July to 12th August (more details to be revealed soon)
What is the Birds of Prey at Oxford castle?
Birds of Prey at Oxford Castle will be on 22nd July and 2nd September. Times are bookable from 10am to 3pm and handling sessions are £4 with flying sessions being £16
What is Jailbreak?
Jailbreak is an experience where guests must escape a prison cell and attempt to outsmart the prison warden. Bookings must involve a minimum of 10 people and are priced at £27 for groups of 10 to 13 people or £26 for groups of 14 to 18 people. These must be pre-booked 14 days in advance and only people aged 12 or over can take part. It is a 1-hour experience which takes place from 7pm (no earlier)
What is Murder Mystery?
Murder Mystery is an experience where groups between 15 to 50 people must solve a murder. This is available daily from 7pm and the experience lasts for 2 hours. £39 per person which includes a free drink (wine or juice). Must be booked 14 days in advance, not suitable for children under 15
What are the Oxford history walks?
Oxford history walks involve 90-minute walking tours of Oxford every Saturday at 11am. Tours can be booked on the day with prices being £13.95 for adults, £8.75 for children, and £12.95 for students with children under 5 and carers going free
What are the Ghost Tours?
The 90-minute family-friendly ghost tours involve illusions, tricks and spine-tingling stories about the castle. Tours are every Friday at 6.30pm and the cost of admission for adults is £14 for adults, £8.95 for children and £13 for students with children under 5 and carers being free
