Q

Positive effects of anxiety

A

Study by yule and cuts hall where the interviewed eyewitnesses of and irl shooting 5 months later and recall was still good
11% higher accuracy for those who said they experienced high amounts of anxiety
This anxiety may have triggered flight or fight response which could’ve allowed them to have an evolutionary response and focus on other cues that may help the escape

Q

AO3

A
  • weapon focus may actually be testing surprise rather than anxiety as picked in his study had highest recall when there was a raw chicken instead of a gun in a salon robbery and so can only explain some influences of anxiety
  • irl studies, particularly field studies are susceptible to extraneous variables as in yule and cutshalls study they couldn’t control post event discussion which has proven to lead to inaccurate EWT
