What does an assertion suggest?
That the speaker/writer is convinced of the truth of the stated claim.
What is the definition of an assertion?
To declare a particular claim without qualification.
What is the definition of Denial?
To declare the opposite (or the falsity) of a particular claim without qualification.
Give a denial to the following assertion:
I locked my keys in my car
I didn’t lock my keys in my car.
What is the definition of a contradiction?
To assert and deny the same claim at the same time.
What is the definition of Coherence?
A relationship between two or more claims (or beliefs) such that they are logically compatible with one another; an absence of contradiction between two or more claims/beliefs.
