exam 1 Flashcards
(20 cards)
What are the symptoms of tendinitis?
inflammation of tendon itself; acute or chronic; limits strength and motion
What are the signs of tenosynovitis?
inflammation of synovial sheath; acute or chronic; painful; functionally limiting
What are the symptoms of a tendon rupture?
traumatic or chronic weakening; tendon from bone; musculotendinous junction; requires surgical intervention
How can you tell musculoskeletal pain?
can you create it; can you palpate it; it is related to movement; was there an event? ; has it improved with rest?
How can you tell systemic pain?
is it associated with any other s/sx?; is it constant?; Does it worsen at night?; Did it come on suddenly?; Has it been gradually worsening?
What is a grade 1 muscle strain?
small or micro tear
What is a grade 2 muscle strain?
moderate tear
What is a grade 3 muscle strain?
complete rupture
What degree of the painful arc signifies an AC impingement?
170-180
What are red flags to look for?
tissue swelling; burning, numbness, tingling (nerve); worsening pain (systemic)
What is a grade 1 AC joint sprain?
AC ligament tear or coracoclavicular ligament tear
What is a grade 2 AC joint sprain?
Full rupture of the AC joint
What is a grade 3 AC joint sprain?
rupture of both the AC ligament and CC ligament
Will a muscle strain be painful with resisted isometrics or passive stretching?
resisted isometrics
If there is pain with resisted elbow flexion, this is indicative of?
Slap tear
What GH ligament is most likely to be stretched or torn?
Superior GH ligament
What GH ligament is missing in 30% of the population?
Middle GH ligament
What is the clavicular movement during scapulohumeral rhythm during 3 phases?
1) elevation 5 degrees
2) add 15 degrees, initiates posterior rotation
3) add 15 degrees, posterior rotation 30-50 degrees
What is the GH movement during scapulohumeral rhythm during 3 phases?
0-30 phase 1) 30 degrees GH AB
30-90 phase 2) 40 degrees GH AB
90-180 phase 3) 60 degrees GH AB and 90 degrees ER
What is the scapular movement during scapulohumeral rhythm during 3 phases?
0-30 phase 1) 0 degrees scap upward rotation
30-90 phase 2) 20 degrees scap upward rotation
90-180 phase 3) 30 degrees scap upward rotation
