EDG Local Emergency Start

  • List the methods & order of preferance for a local emergency start of the DGs per the EOPs

  1. Reset Engine Shutdown Relay or Stat Failure Relay by pressing Engine Shutdown Reset PB
  2. Emergency Start Popout button on Generator Control Panel (Break Glass or remove glass cover).
  3. Place Master Transfer Switch in LOC/MANUAL then press START
  4. Manually actuate either air start solenoid.

  • KW heater - Auto when DB < 125 rpm. Will not run unless < 125 rpm and Aux oil pump running.
  • T/S 3.8.3 when DG required to be operable per 3.8.1/3.8.2 Lube Oil > 750 gallons.
    • If < 750 gallons IMMEDIATELY declare DG Inoperable

    • Single Channel Trip of Reactor Protection System (RPS), leaving plant in 1/3 logic.
    • If SR/IR Flux trips not blocked a Rx Trip Signal will be generated.
    • 1 UV channel and 1 degraded voltage channel for each LSELS.
  • When NN Invertor power from bypass circuit there are several energize to actuate functions not available:
    • CTMR Hi-3
    • RWST Lo-Lo
    • NB Bus UV
