Exam 1 - Forearm Flashcards
What are the Superficial muscles of the Anterior forearm?
Pronator teres, Flexor carpi radialis, Palmaris longus, Flexor carpi ulnaris
What are the Intermediate muscles of the Anterior forearm?
Flexor digitorum superficialis
What are the Deep muscles of the Anterior forearm?
Flexor digitorum profundus, Flexor pollicis longus, Pronator quadratus
What are the origins of Pronator teres?
Common flexor tendon and (deep or ulnar head) from medial side of Coronoid process of Ulna
What are the insertions of Pronator teres?
Midpoint of the lateral side of the shaft of the Radius.
What are the functions of Pronator teres?
Pronates the forearm
What innervates Pronator teres?
Median nerve
What supplies blood to Pronator teres?
Ulnar artery and Anterior Ulnar Recurrent artery
What are the origins of Flexor carpi radialis?
Common flexor tendon from the medial epicondyle of the Humerus
What are the insertions of Flexor carpi radialis?
Base of the 2nd and 3rd metacarpals
What are the functions of Flexor carpi radialis?
Flexes the wrist; abducts the hand
What innervates the Flexor carpi radialis?
median nerve
What supplies blood to the Flexor carpi radialis?
UInar artery
What are the origins of Palmaris longus?
Common flexor tendon, from the medial epicondyle of the humerus
What are the insertions of Palmaris longus?
Palmar aponeurosis
What are the functions of Palmaris longus?
Flexes the wrist
What innervates the Palmaris longus?
median nerve
What supplies blood to the Palmaris longus?
Ulnar artery
What are the origins of Flexor carpi ulnaris?
Common flexor tendon and from medial border of Olecranon and upper 2/3 of the Posterior border of the Ulna
What are the insertions of Flexor carpi ulnaris?
Pisiform, hook of hamate, and base of 5th metacarpal
What are the functions of Flexor carpi ulnaris?
Flexes wrist, adducts hand
What innervates Flexor carpi ulnaris?
UInar nerve
What supplies blood to Flexor carpi ulnaris?
Ulnar artery
What are the origins of Flexor digitorum superficialis?
Humeroulnar head - common flexor tendon
Radial head - middle 1/3 of radius
