What is the duration of a dance team member’s year?
A member’s year begins on the day the member’s name is officially announced/posted and continues until that membership is terminated or the announcement of the new team is made.

The Director/Coaches

How can a member erase demerits?
By earning merits

A demerit will be assigned.

No, once demerits have been converted to a strike, they may not be erased
When assigned probation, when will the probation period begin?
Probation periods begin with the first dance team-sponsored event after discipline was issued.
Does a member maintain membership when on probation?
Yes, any probation periods, from demerits or strikes, the member will maintain membership.
While on probation, what must the member attend/not attend?
The member must attend all practices but sit out on all performances, events, and traveling.
How many strikes does it take for an officer to be removed from their position?
2 strikes (of any level)
What behaviors result in a demerit or multiple demerits?
Tardiness
- Showing disrespect
- Leaving an event or practice early
- An excused absence without prior parent notification
- Inappropriate language or behavior
- PDA shown in school
- Moving or talking at attention
- Improper body language
- Not abiding by bus policies
- Failure to turn in money
- Failure to inform the director of ISS/OSS
- Socializing with anyone other than strutters at a performance or function
- Failure to adhere to grooming and uniform expectations
- Failure to cover tattoos
- Accepting food, drinks, or other items without permission
- Leaving the stands without permission
- Allowing a non-member to sit in the stands with strutters
- Receiving a failing grade on the UIL eligibility check
Strike 1 Policy:
Parent notification and probation for 2 team-sponsored events
Strike 2 Policy
Parent notification, conference with parent, and probation for 3 team-sponsored events
Strike 3 Policy:
Parent notification, conference with the parent and assistant principal, and immediate removal from the team
What behaviors result in strikes?
Disrespect towards Director/Teacher/Administration
- Insubordination towards the Director/Teacher/Administration
- Documented inappropriate conduct
- Any unexcused absence
- Failure to regain eligibility at the next UIL Eligibility check
- Refusing to work at practice
- Unsportsmanlike conduct
- Assignment to ISS
- Receiving a P or U on conduct
- Forging a document or signature
- Infractions of the team’s electronic guidelines
What behaviors result in immediate dismissal?
- Assignment to OSS
- Assignment to DAEP
- Failing 2 classes at the end of the semester
- Destruction or vandalism of school property
- Stealing
- Alcohol, tobacco, vape, and/or any drug use
- Documented inappropriate conduct
- Notice from law enforcement that a member committed in felony
- Infractions of team electronics guidelines
What can cause an OFFICER to receive a demerit?
- Abuse of authority
- Unnecessary criticism of a member
- Failure to give merits or demerits
- Failure to set a good example
- Failure to meet responsibilities
- Failure to fulfill duties
What are the only excused absences during the year?
- Personal illness
- Death in the family
- Certain circumstances were discussed with the director
If you miss any part of the class or practice during the season, what will happen?
An alternate may be placed in the member’s spot. ot
What is the only day that a practice may not be assigned?
Sunday
How many games make up a football season?
10 games and any playoff games thereafter
