He was ordained to his mission as an infant, he was baptized as a child, and his mission was in part to overthrow the kingdom of the Jews.
An alternative meaning of Jehovah
“I AM” (in Hebrew, YHWH)
Why was Christ baptized?
To fulfill all righteousness; to show us the way to be saved through humble obedience.
Parallel between Jesus and Moses relative to the time in the wilderness
Both went into the wilderness to be/commune with God for 40 days.
Was Jesus morally mutable?
No. He suffered all temptations, but He never heeded them, or yielded to them by sinning.
How did Christ withstand Satan’s temptations?
By quoting scripture
Where was the Sermon on the Mount?
Matthew says it was up in a mountain, and Luke says it was in a plain. It is possible that there were two separate sermons, or that this sermon was not stationary.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit who come unto me”

Everyone will appear before Christ to be judged.
Why did Jesus perform miracles?
- To show His power over all things
- To reveal His character (love and compassion)
- To motivate people to cast off their spiritual infirmities, as their physical ones
- To create teaching opportunities for gospel truths
- To prevent people from frustrating God’s purposes (e.g., escaping crowds)
- To reward and strengthen faith
- To set an example for His followers
Parable of the Sower
Illustrates the many ways that the word of God can fail to thrive in us. It needs to land in fertile soil, then withstand Satan, trials, and worldly cares.
Parable of the wheat and the tares
Jesus sowed seeds in the world. The wheat represents the children of the kingdom, and the tares the children of the Devil. The harvest (performed by angels) is the end of the world, when the wheat and tares will be separated.
