What should we look for in the illocutionary stage?
Signals directed at others expecting specific outcomes, signals are persistent/goal directed, evidence that communication is coming, begins to use true words to name things
What should we look for in the locutionary stage?
Language forms are used consistently, word is decontextualized, continue to use nonverbal, increased comprehension
What should we include during evaluation?
Emotional and social functioning, functions of communication, play, means of communication, comprehension word production and word combinations
Ability to form relationships by means of mutual engagement and attachment, intentional 2 way communication and reciprocity, prelinguistic means of communication including gestures, gaze, vocalizations, use of symbols to express thoughts and feelings

Child is referred, evaluation, initial IFSP meeting is held and IFSP is written, ECI services, every 6 months IFSP is reviewed and revised, IFSP reviewed annually, transition plan for child’s exit from Part C is included in IFSP, child exits ECI from part C
When should the plan of exit be done by?
90-120 days before 3rd birthday
What 2 transitions would a child with ECI services experience?
Part C to Part B (required in all states), entry into vocational work
How many days should an IFSP be made?
45 calendar days
