Exam 4 Flashcards
(34 cards)
what does RAID stand for?
redundant array of independent disks
store technology that contains several magnetic or optical discs that are linked together in an array or series and perform as a single large disk drive
RAID
what part of the archive contains the physical storage of the images within the archive?
image storage portion, and the archive server
what are the 2 parts of the PACS system?
the image manager and the image storage
what do you use to merge analog film into PACS system?
film digitizer
they process latent image on film into film through the use of heat
dry imagers
storage solutions
magnetic disc, optical disc
magnetic storage disk solution that attaches directly to the archive server
direct archive solution (DAS)
magnetic storage solution that is stand alone RAID that arrays and is attached directly to the network thats is called
network attached storage (NAS)
magnetic storage solution that links different kinds of data, storage devices, data servers, data or disk array controllers, different tape libraries to the network. this is more robust
SAN (storage area network)
what are the different kinds of optical discs? and which holds the most data?
CD
digital versatile disc (DVD)
magneto optical discs (MODS)
ultra density optical (UDO) - holds the most data
contains master database of everything that’s in the archive
imager manager
putting multiple images together as one, used for long bone measurements or scoliosis series
stitching
allows radiologist to take several different anatomical planes, they originate from axial images, and put it all together
multiplanar reconstruction (MPR)
what does PACS stand for?
picture archiving communication system
universally accepted standard for exchanging medical images among modalities and view stations in the archive
DICOM
if you look at the images and send them to a workstation for a technologist to look at and view and makes sure everything looked ok before it went to the radiologist that is called
quality control workstation
servers type system that uses internet browser and it uses application software for a client display
web based system
acquisition modaliteis
where the images are produced (produced on different x-ray machines and sent to PACS)
the study of the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and use of health care resources for the purpose of optimizing patient care
health informatics
how the radiologist wants to view the images (their orientation & order)
hanging protocol
in the EMR (electronic medical record) or the EHR (electronic health record), software program that helps clinicians from a large database, helps them to decide what things need to happen for that patient
clinical decision support tools
what does DIKW stand for? (hierarchy model)
data, information, knowledge, and wisdom
data
