Brightness/Contrast

It is suggested that you put the main subject matter in either one of the points where the lines intersect or placing vertical or horizontal subjects on the vertical or horizontal lines on the grid.

Birds Eye of View
It makes your subject matter seem more diminutive. You take the photo above looking down.
Worms Eye View
It makes your subject matter seem more powerful. You take the photo from below looking up.
Lead in Lines
They are naturally occurring linear elements in a scene that can be positioned to lead from the edge of the frame in towards the main area of interest/subject matter. It works because they draw the viewer into the picture, directing attention onto elements or subjects within.
Foreground Interest
It is having a strong element in the foreground of your picture that acts as a stepping stone to lead the viewer into the picture where there is also a strong element in the background to balance the composition.
Natural Frames
Composing an image so that one element of the composition surrounds the edges of the viewfinder frame to help concentrate attention on the main subject.
Deadpan
Where your subject matter is in the very center of the photo and the photograph is taken straight on.
