there was a move towards a more scientific approach with emphasis on observation, experimentation and dissection

germ theory-1861 Louis Pasteur- it revolutionised medicine by explaining the true causes of disease and before the discovery of this theory people still believed in non-scientific explanations for example the theory of four humours
antiseptics:Jospeh Lister developed antiseptic surgery by using carbolic acid to sterilise equipment and to prevent infections
the understanding of the link between poor health and living conditions, along with advancements in sanitation and public health measures, contributed to improved overall health outcomes.
