Define fuel
A substance that could be eaten or burned to produce energy
Define stored energy
Energy that is stored in something eg. In food or fuel it can be changed
Define input energy
Energy we need to put in to start a fuel burning
Define output energy
Energy such as heat and light energy which is produced when a fuel is burning
Define the elements of the fire triangle
- Fuel
- Heat
- Oxygen
What will happen if we take any of these elements away
You will put/extinguish the fire
What is needed for a candle to burn
- Fuel ( something that burns )
- Oxygen ( found in the air around us )
- Input energy ( to start the fuel burning )
Can a fuel burn if you take away one of the elements from the fire triangle
No it cannot if you take one of the elements away you will put out the fire
Define a candle snuffer
It is a long rod and at the end of it looks like a bell which takes away the oxygen from the fire putting it out
How would you put out a fire
To put out a fire you would need to cut its air supply you can do this by smothering it with a wet blanket
