Q

How would you distinguish the three still whites we’re featuring from the Finger Lakes?

A

Red Newt
Argetsinger
HJW

The Red Newt is going to be a little less expensive, with notes of grapefruit and peach, a smoky finish. The Argetsinger and HJW are both single-vineyard. The Argetsinger is going to have more minerality and savory notes, while the HJW is going to have more ultra-ripe stone fruit notes and generally be more opulent.

Q

How would you distinguish the Lundeen from the Au Bon Climat?

A

Lundeen is from the Willamette Valley, so we’re going to experience darker red fruits and more earthy and savory tones given the climate, along with some black tea notes. The Au Bon Climat comes from Santa Barbara, so we’ll see brighter, fresher fruits like cherries and strawberries. It’s essentially a photo of fruit framed by oak.

Q

How would you compare the Forge with the Patricia Green?

A

Patricia Green is a single vineyard from the Willamette Valley, thus the higher expense. The wine is exceptionally beautifully balanced between fruit and floral notes and earthy, black tea and early grey notes. The Forge is coming from the Finger Lakes region, and it’s our only Pinot from NY. The forge is going to have more smokey and savor it notes, with fruits in the background.
