Q

Principles of Rehabilitation

A

Avoid Aggravation – cot causing further injury, promote healing, not hinder healing

Timing – The time when you do it is important! Done too early can be harmful.

Compliance – Include patient in the care plan.
- If they are not included, they might not be compliant. If not compliant, it won’t work

Individualization – every patient is different. Be aware of time lines, goal setting, age, level of motivation. The plan cannot be generic.

Specific Sequencing – The treatment should follow the body’s healing process. Ex: work on joint mobility before strength.

Intensity – Just the right challenge, and continue to challenge as patient progresses

Total Patient – Holistic approach, looking at patient as a whole, not just their injury.
