(12 cards)
what are the 4 brain lobes?
frontal
temporal
parietal
occipital
what is the frontal lobes function?
the frontal lobe is responsible for higher cognitive functions like, planning, problem solving, decision making and emotional regulation. also plays a role in personality and voluntary movements.
what is the temporal lobes function?
the temporal lobe processes auditory information, language comprehension and memory. also plays a role in visual processing
what is the parietal lobes function?
sensory processing, spacial awareness, temperature, pain and integrating information from different senses like touch.
what is the occipital lobes function?
visual processing, this includes receiving and interpreting visual information from the eyes.
what happens when the visual cortex is damaged?
when the visual cortex is damaged it can lead to blindness or visual impairment
where is the visual cortex?
occipital lobe
where is the brocas area?
frontal lobe
what is the cerebellums role?
movement which include motor coordination and control, balance and posture, voluntary movements and movement related learning
what is the function of the hindbrain?
basic biological functions such as movement, breathing, heart rate and digestion
what is the function of the midbrain?
the midbrain processes sensory information such as hearing, sight and tactile information. coordinating movement. regulates sleep.
what is the forebrains function?
complex functions, including: cognition, perception, learning, language, memory, receiving and processing sensory information and initiating voluntary movements.
