Q

Excess Plantar flexion Primary

A

Inadequate dorsiflexors, IMC (plantar flexors), plantar flexor contracture/hypomobility, ankle pain/effusion (WA, SLA)

or

Rigid plantar flexion contracture, IMC (plantar flexor spasticity), ankle pain/effusion/fusion (SLS)

Q

Excess PF Functional significance

A

Poor position for heel rocker, decreased forward momentum of tibia, decreased shock absorption by limiting knee flexion (WA)

Decreased fwd progression of tibia over the ankle and forefoot rocker (SLS)

Interferes with foot clearance and foot position for initial contact (SLA)
