Exercise 6: Connective Tissue Proper Flashcards
(20 cards)
contain predominantly fat cells, many fewer fibroblasts, macrophages and mast cells.
Adipose tissue
The Connective tissue cells
Fibroblast
Plasma cell
Mast cell
Macrophages or histiocytes
Adipose cell or adipocytes
Is bind and connect together the different organs of the body. They are characterized by the presence of abundant fibers and liquid amorphous ground substances.
Connective tissue
irregularly arranged tissue which serves as packing tissue in adult between organs and other tissues.
Areolar or loose connective tissue
Components/types of fibers
Collagenous or white fibers
Elastic or yellow fiber
Reticular fibers
are common and numerous and present in all types of connective tissues
Fibroblast
contains predominantly collagenous fibers and closely arrange side by side in parallel bundles. This is a silvery white, strong and tough yet perfectly pliant, sparingly supplied with nerves and blood vessels.
Dense fibrous tissue
Compose of cell and fibers
Connective tissue
3 group of connective tissue
Connective tissue proper
Supportive tissues
Vascular tissues
are large, polyhedral or flattened cells with small nuclei. Most numerous along blood vessel beds, motile but slow moving cells
Mast cell
are large, brilliant, spherical cells; cytoplasm is reduced to a thin membrane which surrounds a fat droplet
Adipose cell or adipocytes
consists of bundles of fine wavy fibrils (fibrillae) which are cemented together.
fibers do not branch freely
Collagenous or white fibers
are irregularly shaped cells with short processes and smaller nuclei; are phagocytic cells in inflammatory conditions.
Macrophages or histiocytes
are small, round or irregularly shaped cell whose nucleus has chromatin materials arranged like the “spoke of the wheel” pattern:
actual formers of circulating antibodies
Plasma cell
Branches of cytoplasm of reticular fibers form a framework of the spleen, lymph nodes and bone marrow. It functions as part of the body’s complex immune mechanism by filtering injurious substances out of the blood and lymph and reticular cells and other certain kinds of cells phagocytose them.
Reticular tissue
Are fine, wavy, branched and form network which make them hard to distinguish. Believed to be immature forms of white fibers
Reticular fibers
Chief cells
Mesenchymal cells
is found in the embryo. It consists of undifferentiated mesenchymal cells with their processes come in contact with each other forming a network; having a gel-like, amorphous substance; and with scattered reticular fibers.
Mesenchymal connective tissue (mesenchyme)
are widely separated and appear much like fibroblasts. Having unapparent fine collagen fibers.
Spindle-shaped undifferentiated mesenchymal cells
is found in the umbilical cord and pulp of growing teeth. It consists of abundant ground substance (Wharton’s jelly) composed mainly of hyaluronic acid, it appears homogenous and basophilic.
Mucoid connective tissue
