What is the family lineage in relationship to God’s chosen people as Israelites and how does this tie in w/Genesis?
In Genesis, God chooses Abram as patriarch of the Israelites (specially blessed and chosen people of God - setting up the story of redemption)
Abram has a son Isaac, a grandson Jacob –> Jacob has a son Joseph (Abram’s great grandson)

Joseph (via miraculous chain of events) in the end of Genesis, becomes second in command of Egypt
Israelites prosper in Egypt via Joseph’s leadership (who entered the country as a slave and rose to second in command)
Joseph later dies, a new pharoah sees the flourishing family of Joseph as a threat –> makes the Israelites his slave…on to the next card
