Experiment: prepare a sample of cheek cells for investigation under the microscope
Wipe the cotton bud inside of your cheek. Rub the the cotton bud onto the centre of a microscope slide. Put one drop of methylene blue stain on top of where the cells have been put on the slide and place a cover slip onto the slide at a 45° angle to avoid bubbles

Use a tweezers to carefully peel off a thin layer of the onion. Place the membrane on the microscope slide in a flat layer. Place a very small drop of iodine on to the membrane. Carefully lower a cover slip on top of the membrane at a 45° angle to avoid bubble

What chemical do you use: iodine. What is he colour change for it: brown/red to black/blue
Food test: test for protein
What chemical do you use: biuret solution What is he colour change for it: Blue to purple
Food test: test for glucose
What chemical do you use: Benedict’s solution. What is he colour change for it: Blue to brick red
