- Informational social influence (ISI)
- Normative social influence (NSI)

A
- Conforming to be right
- More likely to happen when the correct thing is not obvious/other people have more info than us

- Conforming to be likes
- Wanting to fit in

- Compliance
- Identification
- Internalisation

What is compliance?
A
- Go along with the group to gain approval
-Does not result in change in underlying attitude

What is identification?
A
- Elements of both compliance and internalisation
- Accept attitudes they are adopting as true (internalisation) but the purpose is to be liked (compliance)

What is internalisation?
A
- Go along with the group because of an acceptance of their views
- Acceptance both public ally and privately

Distinguishing (evaluation)
A
- Difficult to distinguish between compliance and internalisation as it’s hard to know when each is taking place
- NSI and ISI can operate together
