“We cringe in holes”- the soldiers during war are compared as scared animals. People say that the soldiers were brave during war but Wilfred Owen(poet) says that they were the complete opposite
“In the merciless iced east winds that knive us”- wind is the enemy of the soldiers as it is killing them
“Is it that we are dying”- the soldier is aware of what is really going on during war
