ppts were along, with 2 other ppts, or 2 confederates which did nothing about the smoke.

those alone were more likely to report the smoke than those with strangers (75% vs 38%)
only 10% with the confederates present

either thought they alone (just them and the victim), 4 people or 6 people.
they then heard gasps and noises of a fit
more people present led to less people helping
