1
Q
What is the GST technique
A
The GST technique is used to purify a protein from cells, especially proteins that you’ve engineered.
GST = Glutathione S-Transferase
It’s a small protein that sticks strongly to a substance called glutathione.
Scientists fuse GST to the protein they want to study, making a “GST-tagged” protein.
2
Q
What is a glycerol stock
A
A glycerol stock is a frozen backup of bacteria (usually E. coli) that you’ve engineered or grown in the lab
3
Q
What is IPTG induction
A
It’s a method used to make bacteria produce a specific protein — usually a protein we’ve inserted into them using genetic engineering.
