  • Excess air can saturate into pressurized/deeper water
  • Water that moves to the surface is supersaturated and starts degassing
  • Excess air can be absorbed into the fish during gas exchange
  • Extra gas in the bloodstream can cause numerous effects on fish usually lumped together as GAS BUBBLE TRAUMA (GBT)
